Does it sound like a R/R Issue??
So I bought a new battery about a 1 1/2 week ago, bike ran fine slowly was losing charge. Thought it might need to be recharged, so bought a trickle type charger that can charge a battery in about 12-18 hrs, then slowly charge for storage. So bike ran fine being hooked up and unhooked, and back again for about 3-4 days, yesterday I ran the bike all day since it was very nice and kept hooking it up to charge. Last night I brought it to a friends house, and we ended up going somewhere else. Long story short, I had to jump it, did not start the car, just started the bike and ran it over to my house to get the battery charged, after running it and it losing charge, I thought it might be the stator, but I'm thinking it could be R/R since I did see it smoke and smell bad about 3 weeks ago, the mechanic is going to look at it, but does it sound like it needs a new R/R, mechanic said it could be something that caused the R/R to go toast, but he said it sounds like a stator possibly. I rode it home and then after shutting it down, I tried to restart it thinking it wouldn't start and sure enough it did start, so I'm starting to think it's the R/R....what do you all think?

So i took it to the shop and they fixed the rr, then rode all day, this morning doesn't start uncover seat and the ground is cable to battery is loose, I tried starting it and it lost power trying to crank, soon as I tighten up the ground it gets more power but not enough to start it, do you guys think this caused the bike not to start or what? Dumb shop if you ask me, they said charge battery and take it back so they can check the charging system again, it would make sense since the ground was loose... What do y'all think?

Sounds about right. If the ground was loose, you're going to get an intermittent charge.
Charge the battery overnight, and then see if it runs/starts like it should.
Have them check it over again, but this time it should be a FREE service, since
any further efforts are probably due to their negligence in properly checking all of
the connections before returning the bike to you.
If they won't comp the check-up, I would start looking for a new service center and let them know,
that you are going to do so and will also be informing all of your friends and associates why, as well.
Don't be afraid to raise your voice at the service counter.
Do NOT yell or use profanity, just state it calmly and clearly.
Hope this helps, Ern
