+1 to what randyjoy had to say. With the 954 you get the best of both worlds; you get the handling characteristics of a 600cc bike but the engine very close to the new 1ltr bikes. I ride in the foothills west of Denver all the time and no one can keep with me in the twists!

Id like to know more about your gut and gutted stock exhaust, I like my exhaust as it is but would like some decent noise from it! Jimmy.tiller@gmail.com

I take my 03 954 to the track as often as my schedule and wallet will allow and have only seen one bike really run away from me on the back straight at Road Atlanta, and that was a Hyabusa. I am holding my own down the back straight with ALL of the other stock liter bikes. Last time out I met another guy with an 02 954 and he and I were discussing how much we love our bikes and how they hang with the other bikes out there. Definitely flicks like a six and runs like a one.

its not hard to do if you know how to use a rivet gun. cut your exhaust down to the size you want. once you've down that, drill through the stock rivets to get the end cap off. after you've pulled everything out of the exhaust (which is what makes it loud), line everything thing back up, drill pilot holes, and re-rivet the endcap back on. and thats it.

then, wire the HTEV open (or you can completely remove the valve that's inside of it) to add a real nice tone to it. most people think my exhaust is aftermarket, it gets a lot of compliments on the way it looks and the way it sounds. only costs a few bucks (for the new rivets, btw, stainless steel ones are the way to go).

Havin both the 954 and a zx10 i would have to say the 954 is wider, specially from the seat.
It is also heavier, both on the same scale was 450 for the 954 and 425 for the zx10.

The 954 is alot smoother and easier to ride tho.

rafa are both of your bikes stock? from what i have seen, those two bike should weigh within one or two pounds of each other dry - that being in the neighborhood of 373-374. the 954 holds almost 80 lbs of fluids?

Yes they are both sitting in my garage

And the 954 is basically stock besides a can, the ninja in the other hand has alot of mods.

I will try weight them again... idk how precise the scale was (used the one a the track)... but this time i will use the one at work which is pretty precise. At work i got mine and my friends bikes all on the scale got 410 on a gsxr 600 2003, 418 on my buddies 1999 R1, 420 on a 04 cbr 600rr and 425 on my zx10r
