replace it when your engine ramps up when you get on the throttle. otherwise just keep it adjusted.

Just what Demon said, i have over 25k on my original clutch, it goes to the dragstrip regularly and get wheelied a lot. Still feels as good as the day i got it. Replace it when performance starts to go.

Default RE: Clutch questions

All you should do is make sure there is lever freeplay in the lever. If not then clutch isn't fully engaging and you'll wear it out sooner. Best rule is to just make sure there is alittle play when handlebars are fully turned to the left and right, making sure the play isn't taken away while steering. As when to replace a clutch, there is no definite time. I have about 65,000 miles on the stock clutch and it is still holding up fine. If you want to see the condition of your clutch i would go riding shift from second to third gear without letting go of the throttle and just clutch it. When you release the clutch the RPM's should drop quickly and hold. If the rpm is hanging up roughly at about the RPM you were in in second gear and doesn't seem to lower as your are slowly accelerating then your clutch is starting to go, and if you are riding it correctly you might not feel the clutch slipping at this point. This is a stress test for your clutch. Don't do it but maybe a few times or you'll burn your discs and then you'll need to replace it anyways! I hope this helps. Email me if anyone needs more info
