Default Chain Question

I am about at the end of the life of my Drive chain what is the best one to go with and how hard is it to change? I am very handy when it comes to working on the bike or cars. but do you need a tool to break the locking link ? ? ? ? ?

if this has been out their sorry I did not see it.

Do it yourself. A chain breaker is handy......otherwise a torch or cutting wheel works just as good. Grind off the pin heads and it'll pull out or just cut it off. You're replacing the sprockets too right? Yank the old chain off........replace the sprockets.....an impact wrench for the front sprocket will be your friend........put rear tire back on.......install new chain.........the chain tool will come with the parts to pinch the new link on.....or you can use a punch and a hammer (or two.....one on the back side) and punch the pins down.....must make sure you curl them over right or it wont hold.

It's an easy job........have at it.

its an easy job if you have done it before......you can cut the chain off with any thing and install tour own sprockets but i recommend that you let a moto shop put the chain on...it takes a special tool....you can do it with a hammer and nail but if you curl the lip to much the wall of the lip will become to thin and shear off and if you dont curl it enough the link plate will come loose...

or u could just look for a chain that uses as clip on the masterlink instead of mushroomin the pins. if u cant find a chain that uses that type of masterlink u can find bike shops that sell just masterlinks. ive used both and no matter what other people think that have never used this type of masterlink and tell u how bad of a idea it is ive never had a problem wit it and rode it till it was time to change the chain.

a solid chain is always the best, i dont use masterlinks, i use the chain tool and make one solid chain, hassle when changing rear tire but i feel safer that the chain is not goin to break or come apart

Vortex......is good. Renthal has been around for a long time.......Rk.....Regina........AFAM.....all are good.

Do not go with a clip chain........go with an endless chain......your bike and body will thank you when it doesnt come apart.

Go up 3 in the rear from stock and it'll be a good change!!

I'd go with the D. I. D. chain. If your chain is worn out, chances are so are both sprockets. Now would be a good time to change them too.
