Post Blown 900rr Motor - Will a 954 fit ?

Ok, I just blew my 93 900rr motor yesterday, to be more specific I spun a berring and possibly scorned the walls due to lack of oil (1 quart down).

Now my question is, what options do I have?

1. Do I rebuild?
2. Do I need to find another motor for sale?
3. Is there another swap I can do without major modifacation? (929, 954, 1000?)

Thanks for all your help!

929/954 motors have the swingarm bolt to the motor, so you would need to do some motor mount modifications. I am sure there is other stuff, but thats the obvious.

rebuild it if you have the time. go get a honing attachment for your drill and go to work on the cyl. walls. get some new bearings. Im doing the same exact thing to a isuzu rodeo now. if you have or you know people that have access to a machine shop, save the money and rebuild. not to mention the differences between the two bikes. you'll have issues with fitting, way beyond just mounts. think about the differences in the airbox, gas tank, you'll have switch that all around. not to mention, carb vs. injection. think about differences in electrical needs for the engine. Sensors too. You've turned your pretty big job of rebuilding into a HUGE job with putting a dif. engine in it. Buy another 900rr motors that has some goodies on it if anything and part the rest of your motor out.

Besides, having an original 900rr is tight. unless you have a rebuilt title or something, take care of that bike! its a cool retro bike, and ppl in europe are starting to collect them. no one will want a frankenstein bike tho.

or part the whole thing out and get a new bike all together. thats what i did with my F3
