Just a thought. Might not hurt to get it hot and run a compression test on it before you throw a bunch of money at it.

Wouldn't you get a nice explosion out of the exhaust or intake though?

You would think. But this one just died like it was starving for fuel then wouldnt start for about 45 mins to an hour. Weirdest thing i ever saw, never believed it till i tried to put a feeler gauge under the cam lobes

i think im in trouble, it wasnt the tank. i opened then closed the tank & tried starting it, wouldnt fire. then i left the tank open & tried starting it still nothing. the starter does seem a bit weaker wen its doin this but i got a slight tapping wen it heats up, wen i rev it up, kind of sounds like a purring kind of tapping. idk think of a cat purring thats wut it sounds like wen i rev it & it sounds like its coming from the top of the motor @@ wut kind of trouble am i in???

John, you need to figure out why it won't start when hot. Don't start listening for problems that aren't there.

Does the fuel pump prime? With a charged battery, does it push start? If it push starts hot, then you know you have a problem with the ignition/starter.

fuel pump primes everytime i turn the key on. it does push start but really ruff. i live on a big hill & i think it should fire rite up wen i push start it but it doesnt it acts like it dont wana start wen i push start but it does eventually start. wen its cold and i push start it, it fires rite up like the tire doesnt get a full rotation befor it starts. wen its hot & i push start it, i roll about 20 feet befor it starts. ther is a tapping ther wen it heats up, u can barely hear it over the pipe but i can feel it also
