Bail Out of a Turn

Bail Out of a Turn
While transitioning off of Interstate 64 East to State Route 3 North in Illinois, I took fairly tight exit ramp. About 1/3 of the way through it, I noticed something that made me think of oil ahead.
I immediately bailed on the turn, pulled it out and got it up vertical, reduced throttle and applied brakes. Not enough time to stop though. I was gonna go off the road. I got it down to about 15 miles an hour and remember thinking to take the small 1/2 curb headon.
I did and it went well. I came to a stop without dropping the bike and was able to get it back on the asphault. Rode about 100 feet to get completely out of the turn. Checked the bike out. No damage. Not to the rims, the brake calipers, not to the exhaust, body or frame. Collected myself and put the bike through some test manuevers in a parking lot about 1/4 mile away. She was fine.
Moral of the story: Be ready for anything on the road. Always have an out.
