954 shift fork replacement
#3
I just so happen to be replacing the trans in my 929 so I'll tell you what I have learned lol. You can get to the shift forks from the oil pan, but unless you have some way of getting under the bike you will need to drop the motor. if it was me I would drop the motor and split the case odds are it just isnt the shift fork thats bent. My shift fork and gear drum both needed replaced also 2 gears. Its not that bad I would just open that motor up for peace of mind if nothing else.

Depends on if you are doing the labor, or a shop is? You can look up parts on bikebandit.com,mrcycles.com,etc. You would have to contact a shop that could undercut the gears, if they are salvageable? Hard to give a quote with out knowing what you will need. I was quoted $500 to undercut every gear on the acceleration and deceleration sides.

Shift forks are about 40$ the gears get a little pricey they range up to 80$ depending on which ones need replacing. I found a complete trans on ebay for 100 that came with everything. All the parts looked virtually brand new. If you are going to go the ebay route just be careful not to buy someone else's junk I got kinda lucky on mine.
