Default 954 not running right

He guys, looking for a little input on issues other may have faced. Anyways my 02 954 is stock other then a RT1 can and it just rolled over to 10k. About 2 weeks ago, I started it up one morning to go to work, sounded like it had a slight stumble with the idle on high, jumped on and headed to work. The entire way it ran like it really never warmed upwith slight stumble or miss. I can still roll on a nice wheelie and it still has some power, but it has lost the crisp power and sound. I have changed the gas, plugs and air cleaner but nothing changed. I guess the best way to describe the way it runs would be like a car that is out of time, it revs and moves, but almost feels like it is holding itself back. Could it have jumped a tooth on the time and still run some what decent?? Ran great when I parked it and it wasa little chilly that morning.?.?.?

25+years of working on bikes and I am stumped...... Any ideas???

I WOULD ROLL THE 54IN A DYNO SHOPTO DIAGNOSE ALL FOUR PISTONS'REVOLUTION TIME AND VALVE TIMING. IF YOU WANT TO DO IT YOURSELF - GET A POWER COMMANDER AND A LAPTOP, PLUG THE COMMANDERTO THEECU AND RUN THE USB CABLE TO YOUR LAPTOP, CHECK IF ALL PISTONS RUNNING THE SAME LEVEL. TO ME, IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU'RE LOSING POWER MECHANICALLY.

YOU KNOW WHAT, COME TO THINK OF IT, I DIDREMEMBER THERE WASA SLIGHT WEIRD CHANGE OF POWERWHEN MY 54 ROLL ON THE 10K MILE LINE. MY ENGINE MADE A NUETRAL REVVING SOUND WHEN RIDING ON THE FREEWAY THAT DAY WHEN IT HIT 10K MILES AND I STILL CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED, I DID NOTHING AND IT ONLY HAPPENED ONE TIME.

Ya I agree, that is my fear... A bad bearing, piston or something along those lines. Hard to explain but it feels like something is holding it back, almost like I am going into a 50mph head wind. Wheels roll great, no brake binding up... Maybe something in the clutch, but that would not explain the stumble....

I am lost, have not started it other then to test after replacing each item...

Possible fuel deilvery problem. Check the fuel pressure.. Also could be an injector is failing or clogged..

Went thru the steps in the manual, EGCV is adjusted and working correctly.... This was the first time I have started it in a week or so, the thing is running really, really rich; enough to burn my eyes, also blowing black soot on my had when Icover the can and rap it to 8k.
