Has anyone with bad MPG tried running different gas? I would recommend finding gas with no ethanol and check your MPG. Sounds to me that most people with bad MPG have also made several mods trying to gain HP or acceleration and you should expect a decrease in MPG. Unless you are into serious drag racing or stunting why mess with this bike.

I purchased an almost stock 2003 954 one week ago with a Micron slip-on and 520 chain conversion with stock gearing. I saw this topic before riding it for the first time yesterday. Cruising on the interstate over 80mph it average over 39mpg. Riding hard on curvy mountain roads it only dropped to 36.5mpg. This bike is geared too low from the factory in my opinion. My buddy has a 929 with stock gearing and with hard riding on tight curvy roads we both run in 3rd or 4th gear only.

I'd say I get about 110-130 a tank, and I agree anyplace that adds ethanol gives ya worse milage

I got like 139 out of my last tank, and I try to avoid ethanol. F*** the big corn lobby. Silly farmers, corn is for eating not for cars.

I don't think I am riding enough. That tank lasted over a month. Filled up yesterday. got 142 before the light. Took 3.5 gallons for 40.5 Mpg. Damn thing is now loaded up with 10% corn juice. At least it is 93 Octane. I can't bring myself to put in 87. The compression seems to high for that, imo.

i think it all boils down to how far you're riding when you ride and your riding style. when i was in college and only commuted a few miles back and forth from campus, i was getting around 95 miles and the light would come on. now im commuting 20 miles to and from work, and i get about 115-120. i think its because not so much of the tank is wasted on "warming up".

also, when i ride with my wife (on her gs500) who is a new rider, i get a lot better gas mileage as well because im riding a lot slower
