954 fork seals
I picked up a '02 954 last night but the fork seals need changed. I've done this on a F4I and a R6 and it was pretty easy. I was just told that the 954 has inverted forks so you have to pull them out from the bottom...is this true? If so how much of a pita is this going to be?
Thanks in advance

i did mine about 2 weeks ago and didnt have a problem ..........
after you remove the forks pull the dust seal up and then the snap ring hook it on the dust seal to kep it in place. then remove the allen bolt on the lower side of fork 8mm if i remember right. let them drain. after the bolt is removed grip both sides of the fork tubes and give it a jerk to seperate them (may take a couple times). make sure you place the alignment/centering washer to the side(small steel sleve that comes off the dampening rod). remove the bushings, washer and seal (dust cover if replacing) then reinstall new ones with a thin coat of oil(honda ss-8 10 w). reinstall washer, bushings. replace centering washer hold upright to keep in place slide tube in place keeping tube upright slide forks back together(a vice comes in handy for the rest if available use aluminum jaws and rag) a peice of 1 1/2 in pvc about 12 in long and cut in halve to seat seal, just place both halves around tube and use as slide hammer. once seated replace snap ring and dust seal. youu can add fluid from the bolt hole in bottom. 17.3 oz +or- .008 fl oz.replace bolt an remount forks.i put the bolt back in and added fluid from the top caps b/cause i didnt have a small enough funnel to go through the axle well. hope this helps
