Default 954 chassis project

I just came across this 954 project that is pretty special.
Scroll down past the BMW.

of course, i don't really understand the exhaust.... why bring it back forward and have the muffler in front of the damn headers....

My guess is he doesn't want the exhaust to hang out the back anywhere. Ultimately I'd like to have my exhaust exit in front of the back wheel. It doesn't make as much sense if there isn't a fairing to hide the pipework and it is not aesthetically pleasing.
I wish I had a moto 2 project to hold me up from working on my 'toy' project.

Here's a writeup in MCN on it. Explains his thinking on the design.

hahaha, i hear that! me too. there's a lot of ways to make the exhaust not hang out the back, but to bring it 180 and another 90 seems like a lot of unwanted back pressure. you could have a can made to fit underneath the bike where the HTEV is to get around that. just as aerodynamic, centralized, and safe as what he's doing, but a hell of a lot lighter.

still cool though. i'd like a trellis frame for my bike. there's guys that have built them for their bikes on cf.
