03 954 Speedo reading out by 10 kph
Hi guys hope someone out there can help
My speedo is reading too fast by 10 kph which means the total milage reading on the odometer is more than it really is
I'm running standard sprockets 42 rear 16 front (I've a European model),American models seem to list 43 rear 16 front according to Ron ayres
I know no speedo is perfect but 10 kph out seems a little too much I don't really want to go down the speedo healer route has any one fooled around with different sprocket sizes to get the correct reading

I installed a 190/55 rear tire which reduced the speedo error to only 2 mph at 60 mph (US stock sprocket sizes). A smaller sprocket may reduce your error but would also reduce your acceleration (but increase your mpg). The 190/55 is also supposed to reduce acceleration, but I like the faster turn in for the twisties.

that's totally normal. (that's like ours reading 70 when we're goin 65) if you took a tooth away in the rear, it'd probably fix it...
but why worry about it? i've trained myself to just read the speedo that much slower than the road signs.
and the mileage difference really isn't that big of a deal - even with re-sale. most would care about what condition the bike is in.

Thanks for the feedback guys much appreciated I won't do anything for the time being, maybe go down a tooth next time or try a different rear profile when the time comes . U,d think in this day and age though that it wouldn't, be too hard to get it reading right in the first place they cost enough they can do it with cars
