I understand the fuel injection system was better, but mine came with a power commander and its smooth as silk, no issues at all. I have just put it into my local Honda dealer for the fork recall to be done, and the mechanic commented to me thats its the nicest 954 he has ridden.... enough said i think, you can get the 954 to be smooth, but i think a pc is needed.

 

Mine is as smooth as silk...no pc. Let the clutch out from idle and it pulls away smoothly every time.
