-1 front this weekend

ok got off work a bit early this afternoon. I was able to go ahead and swap the sprockets. It didnt go to bad at all. I cleaned the chain pretty good as well. I havent been able to really ride it too much, just a quick trip up the street to make sure everything seemed well. Everything did in fact seem normal. i was actually rode by one of those digital speed reader things in a neighborhood. It had me at 17mph and the speedo was at 22. so at slow speed it wasnt 2 far off. Anyway i was able to adjust the chain to the proper slack and lined up the indicators on the block with the notches on the swingarm. They are pretty even on both sides. Just wondering though if for some reason my rear tire is out of alignment what should i be watching for or feeling for when I ride?

if the notches are lined up right, then you're straight. and they'd have to be quite a bit off for you to feel something radical. but if you were to feel something, you'd notice it under hard acceleration as the front end gets light, the bike will veer (sp?) one way or the other, and in the corners the bike would not turn properly. but if you lined it up right and tightened that bolt closest to the front on the chain adjusters on both sides and then made sure the axle was tight, you're good to go

If you plan on re-selling it I would invest in a speedohealer for sure.

even without a speedo healer, the difference in mileage isn't going to be that big of a deal.. there's not a whole lot of competition when selling a 954. put that money towards something else. speedo's - no matter what bike, or healer, are truly accurate. hell, the radar reading him probably was not calibrated to 100% accuracy.

Ok so just got back from a better test ride of the bike. So first of all I rode back by the radar display in that neighborhood. So the first time I rode by my speedo said 29 and the display showed 26. The second time I rode by my speedo showed 28 and the display showed 24. The third time I showed 30 and the sign showed 16. So suffice it to say that the display is not accurate with any kind of reliability. So the other way I gauged the speedo, I rode in a 35 mph zone and paced traffic. My speedo showed 38. To me this does not warrant spending 80 to a hundred dollars in a speedo healer. Also lime conrice mentioned, its not hard to get rid of a 954, all of them around here go for high blue book/NADA value and they are gone in a week.
Ok so on to other differences. Probably the best thing I noticed is at lower rpm, the bike feels as though it has more power and does not get hung up on the engines "flat spots". That is probably the best usable difference. It is a bit more fun to ride as it comes to life easier at a lower rpm just from cruising. Under hard acceleration, 2nd gear feels like it pulls harder. Feels nice. 1st gear requires even more smoothness than before. All in all for the cost of a front sprocket, a very good mod!! I'm really pleased with it and appreciate all you guys help!
