Default Won't turn over? Fuel pump doesn't even prime

Hey Ive got a 2001 CBR929RR. I recently moved to East Lansing and have been storing it outside with a cover. One morning when I went fire her up nothing happened. The fuel pump does not even prime when you turn the ignition key on. When you hit the start button the headlight goes out but nothing else happens....I have checked the battery and all fuses and that does not seem to be the problem....Can moisture cause something like this from being outside?

My first thought after checking the fuses and battery was the the ignition switch has gone bad?????

or that there is some kind of relay that tells the fuel pump and starter to engage when the ignition key is turned??????

Any similar problems out there?????

Any suggestions?????

Thank you

Zach

Check the fuses, ignition switch, kill switch, ground for the fuel pump. Any one of these things can cause the pump to not work. Thre is a relay that relates to the fuel pump. It is called the fuel cut relay. If you want, PM me your email address and I can send you a copy of the service manual, it should help you out.

yeah some time is you mess with the ignition it burns out the diode that is inside of it it is only supposed to have 9v to 8v on it any more or less and the fuel pump will not prime im looking right now for one but cant seem to find one that works it called a zenard diode i thing. its and its a theft system so someone cant hot wire your bike with a hot wire but they can take it if you have a 9v battery that how i have been starting my bike tell i can find the diode or a ignition in my price range.

Svtsnake is right. To me it sounds like a faulty ground.

he should have, but not everyone does. the lack of posting solutions and final outcomes kinda bothers some of us that spend the effort trying to help people around here. oh well, on to the next bike problem....
