well the thing about the milage on the bike!!!!?
it might be possible that the milage on the odometer is not the actual milage on the bike, for a couple hundred bucks and e-bay you can have a low milage 929 again, matter of fact I I have a set of guages on ebay with 0 mile for sale around $200.00

the other thing is that I how are you sure that the bad part was your bikes only issue? granted that that part might be bad but it might not be the culprit it your bike?

have you ordered a replacement for the broken part and fixed that issue?

if you did then the problem should go away if you did and the problem is still then you bigger issues.

either the vavle was open running lean or closed and running rich but I don't know if either would cause your motor to do a **** up on you.

 

I'm sure you could really do some damage but i'm not sure of to what extent. You have to think that valve is lifting just as fast as your rpm's are high. Fix the valve and if thats not the problem tear into it more. Unfortunately this is the bad side of buying a used bike.
