Default Questions about my 929-mods

So far i have converted to 520 lightweight chain and sprockets, one tooth down front. I did the flapper/servo/pair-mod, and now have two more things i´d like to do on my CBR929RR.

1. I will get my ordered Power Commander V any day now, so this will probably get me a smoother and perhaps more triggerhappy riding experience. For this "upgrade" i will probably find a map for my simple configuration wich is all stock but a Akrapovic can.

2. I would like to raise the compression a bit by changing to a thinner head gasket, so - is this a good and safe way of raising the compression/power a little bit? And is it possible to remove the head with the engine still in the frame?

3. Anyone know if there is a possibility to expect an existing PC-map that support higher compression?

I’m certain there are wiser heads than mine, but I’ll throw a few comments your way

520 conversion isn’t a big deal, one tooth less at the front should see you happy- it will throw the speedo out a bit, if that is an issue then buy a Speedo healer

Good luck with the PC V, as you say, download a few maps and see how you go- I’ve got a PC3 and plan to get my bike mapped, when the shop is open for tuning again -I’m in Melbourne Australia and we are in stage 4 COVID lockdown for another two weeks at least.

I’m not seeing a lot of discussion around higher compression for 929s, most common mods seem to be -full exhaust (or HTEV delete) flapper and pair valve mod and then a custom map for the PC- that’s the track I’ve taken, in addition I’ve upgraded my suspension to suit my weight, fitting a steering dampener, braided lines and an Accosato MC, my bike is almost completely set up for track work only now- can’t wait to get out on it.

Yesterday i dyno:ed and mapped my CBR929RR-01.
Done is flapper mod, pair mod, lightweight chain and sprockets, and an aftermarket can.

Max RWHP: 140+ after 5 runs and tunes in the PC5.
From start it was 130 RWHP with a copied map, and the PC5 increased the power by 10+ hp at the wheel.

Very cool, once we are able to access workshops, I’ll go get mine remapped, I’m excited now to see how my numbers may compare!
