Default Oil Change

So i managed to change the oil for the first time, It was a little messy.. little leaked on the headers when i took the oil filter off, but man.. that puppy holds alot of oil.. i wasn't expecting to fill up the pan.. I was looking through my manual and it stats that it holds 3.7 Liters.. I put about 3.5 Quarts in, when it's leaning on the kick stand it's below the bar, when it's upright it's bewteen the two.. just curious when you guys fill up how many quarts you put in?

without consulting the manual and relying on my often faltering memory, I think it's 3.9 quarts with a filter.

I still haven't found a good way to take the filter off without making a hella mess. Honda screwed up that design IMO.

I agree.. the filter sucks to take off.. the headers got a nice coating of oil.. but atleast it burns off and doesn't stain them.. I'm curious.. when the dealer does an oil change do you think they remove the headers? or just do a darn good job of cleaning it up..

what I learned a while back was to use folded over piece of aluminum foil between the filter and the pipes, and form the foil so that it drains to your pan. No mess. Cheers
