New owner with noise question
Hi gang. New to this forum. I just bought a 2000 929 from my friend, the original owner, with 2700 original miles. It is bone stock, and looks like it came from the showroom. This fella never really rode it (obviously), and really babied it. He is a very mild guy and bought for looks rather than performance. Well, it's mine now, and I'm looking at learning a ton here on the forum. Also, I paid $5500 which I thought was very fair given the immaculate stock condition and knowing the prior owner gives me peace of mind.
Thought I might pose a question at you. I did search, but couldn't find the results I was after. Are these motorcycles inherently noisy? My bike seems to sound very mechanical, with some ticks and rattles at the idle and lower rev range. This is my 15th motorcycle, so I consider myself semi-experienced. From what I read, there is some type of valving system in the exhaust. Is this a noise maker? Are there any other noisy components that service reps say "that's normal"? Thanks for any info, and I look forward to reading and writing here. Joe.

Congrats on the 929, I know your gonna love it.
First thing i would say is to change the oil and filter. I notice mine starts to
make more noise when its time for a change or if its been sitting for a while.
But overall they are a lil noisy.

Thanks for the heads up. I did change the oil as soon as I brought it home. Used the Honda OEM filter and Suzuki's own full synthetic oil. It's good stuff at $6 per quart for full syn.
I also noticed that my frame only has one punch mark in it as far as the recalls go. I'm going to call the dealer tomorrow to see I mine got both. It should have had two recalls done, right?

Im pretty sure the recalls were only on certain vin'ed bikes, Not all of them.
If you go to your honda dealer they can run your VIN through
the IN(interactive network) for updates and recall info.
