Question Bearings ?..........noise question

Gotta question on bearings........last few highway rides commuting
I'm noticing down near the 30 - 40 mph a distinct whirring noise
(best described like the sound nobbly tires make at speed) . Would this
be bearings or what ? Obviously at higher speeds on the highway
can't hear it with wind noise.........just wondering....still handles okay
no weird shakes or anything. How can I check ?

Have you recently adjusted your chain and is it possibly too tight ?

That can cause the sound I think your describing.

It's pretty simple to flop the front wheel out and check the bearings by hand - any roughness will be felt quite easily.

As long as you don't go buying OEM honda bearings they are pretty cheap to replace.

I can get hold of SKF bearings here for around £15 ($25) the pair

Hey there Dr Sprock , I had what sounds like a similar noise . Changed the front bearings couple of days ago and noise is cured

Took an hour tops , including wheel off and on .

The old bearings weren't so bad , could only feel a tiny bit of roughness in one bearing .

Bought mine off e-bay , front and rear bearings £9.70 inc postage
