Default New member with an on going issue, engine cut off when riding.

Hello to you all. I have had my CBR929rr for a year now and recently when riding it cuts out FI light on and a green light on the Speedo. I dump the clutch as I am usually on the move and it kicks straight back in. It is random and at no particular RPM or gear, however has not done it sitting still on tick over. I replaced the battery, ensured good fuel is in it. Read a few posts and checked the lean bank sensor worked as it should hearing the relay click. I have all functioning lights etc. And no obvious burnt fuses.Any ideas? Oh and kick stand functions as it should with general checks and spring retain it up as expected. Kill switch operates normally when used to stop ignition. I am lost.

When you say that it cuts out, is it shutting off? Have you retrieved the codes?

The green light is your neutral light. Could be a bad switch or wiring, it actually being in neutral, or something internal in the transmission.

Hello 74demon. Thanks for the reply. The green is on the Speedo as opposed to being next to the FI light location. Yeah checked codes. I had 9, 34 and 35. I have a servo buddy connected from last owner. When removed the codes flash but when connected no codes thrown up. I also checked the air sensor removing it to see if code thrown up and again it does but goes off when reconnected. I did try to reset codes but for the life of me could not get it to reset. I will have another go at the reset tommorow.

So... I think I got it codes reset, went for a short ride and on the motorway within a matter if no idea as I an literally 2 mins from the motorway the FI light cane on and the green light beside the petrol indicator flashed the bike cut off, I dropped the clutch and she came back to life. Too it straight home as I did not want to get stranded. Jumped the code connector and 2 codes are stored one is 9 and the other 34. So buying a replacement IAT but code 35 has gone leaving only 34, What us the difference? Between 34 and 35? Still have the servo buddy connected. Only thing is both codes the bike should operate normally? ? ?

Think what you have here is a wiring problem, maybe even a sidestand switch issue, as all three sidestand, neutral switch and clutch switch go through the diode (near the fuse box) have a look there first , pull it out clean it ,re-install , if it still happens ,your going to have to have a look at the wiring and associated switches, the other codes are separate to this issue

O.k CaBaRet. I will replace the air intake sensor just to see if the code goes as it's a cheap part and easy to replace. I will look at the diode, I should get the manual delivered tomorow so should give me an idea of what it looks like. Good to have a direction to go hunting to solve the issue as I am starting to pull my hair out with this one. I will update as I go in case some one else gets this issue.

CaBaRet, you may be on to something. I done a continuity test and I am getting nothing across the diode connecting A and C or a strange reading of 199 if using b to c. I assume even if it was closed it may operate once the bike is started? It is visually in good condition but I will get a replacement to rule it out.

Hello. So got the diode and replaced it, got the lean sensor and replaced it and also the sir sensor to clear the fault in the ecm. So I took it out for a run to see if there was still a fault and I have either solved one issue or mis identified which light had flashed when I it all goes wrong. Yes, a very embarassing option. So when on the bike it cuts out and a green light flashes next to the key symbol and the FI comes on with the red light next to it and so I dump the clutch and back to life it goes.
So, I read up and still could be an earth or something to do with the HISS. The key is not original which I suspect this may have happened to a previous owner. I only got 1 key with the bike.
