new 01 929rr owner need help
i just bought a 2001 929rr it is wrecked. I guess the guy had to lay it down and it slid in to the ditch rear wheel first and the force of the rear tire broke the lower case in two spots one of the cracks is clear through and the others are not is it possiable to have the cracks fixed if so would it be safe enough for a begner to ride or should i just find a new case or at least the lower half?

Mine is welded in two places. One is the tab to the frame on the mid right side, and it's welded where the large bolt goes through the swingarm mount. Not the huge bolt for the arm, but the skinnier one for the mount. You need to find a welder that is proficient in welding cast aluminum. It's a rare skill, but they are out there. I've put 13,000 miles on my bike since then, and the bike has been through 3 cycles of 20F Michigan winters followed up with 98F summer temps. No cracks in the weld and it's holding great. But I can't stress enough that like Robles929 mentioned, the case is structural, so if your welder can't do cast aluminum properly don't do it.
