Default Lube the chain?

Hey guy's got the chain nice n clean.. i don't think it had been cleaned for a long long time.. Anyways I lubed the chain, now, here's the question, when it comes to lubing it correctly, i sprayed the lube on the inside of the chain/sprocket, Do i need to lube the face of the chain aswell?.. stupid question i know.. its my first time doing it so don't bash too much .

The O/X-rings need the lube, and it will flow towards the outside of the chain as you drive... sothe face of the chain is fine to leave alone. Spraying it will just make dirt & dust crud up the sides of the chain
