Launching techniques
I havent drag raced a bike in years at a track, but pretty much keep the R's up. Around probably 8K or so. As you let the clutch out (you're slipping the clutch right) feed more throttle. If (WHEN) the front wheel comes up, pull in the clutch just enough to stop climbing. You may have to roll off the throttle a very little bit at the same time if it's really violent. Once out of 1st it's pretty easy, just shift at or shortly before redline. Avoid the rev limiter at all costs.
As for body position, I've tried all ways and found sitting noramlly on the seat worked best for me. No real need to lay on the tank, it's not gonna help much anyway and makes it awkward to control the bike.
I guess it depends on the bike a bit too. On my bike, I do 7k in 2nd, feather the clutch, and lean forward a bit to keep weight on the front end. A couple of guys I ride with have good success with 3rd gear and higher rpms, but i just haven't seen much different, and prefer not to burn up my clutch clowing around.
