hey i just bought my first01929 and some ppl tried to take it..they broke my ignition like idiots they are and snapped my neck..what i tried to do is splice all the wires from my ignition switch and put them alltogetha cuz i think thats wat the switch does..works like a relay of some sort.. but all it does is just crank and crank.. so what i wanted to kno is there like a key sensor in the ignition switch which makes the bike turn on?? can i buy a new ignition and keyand the bike would turn righton?? and is there anyway to fix the broken steering lock? any help will be appreciated thanks..

 

hello and thank you for joining our forum here. i will tell you right off the batt as your 1st post is asking how to get around a busted ignition most members here tend to stay away from explaining this due to this being a public forum and bike thieves do come on here and ask for "how to's" .

now i can tell you that your best bet would be to replace the ignition but you will have to get it re keyed.

 

I can vouch for him as being the Victim of an attempted theft. he is a long time member on a local car forum i visit.

I also recomend replacing the Ignition, not too hard to do

your best bet is a new ignition. i went through that w/ a wrecked 954. it fired right up w/ a new ignition. there is no hot wiring to these bikes.

 

sometimes ebay will carry NEW ignitions and keys alot cheaper than the stealership

sorry there is no quick fix answer to get her up and running right now but swapping the ignition out will be rather easy
