Assuming the EGCV is the same as the HTEV (I think people use them interchangeably), I think you can run the bike just fine without it hooked up. I bought my 929 last spring, and it had the servo motor and HTEV removed. I ran it all last summer like that, with no ill effects that I can tell.Since the servo motor was removed, I have a FI light, with a 35 code, which is just the servo motor is broken code. I am in the process of buying a new servo motor so I can hook it up and not have to worry about the FI light. But removing the HTEV is a very common thing to do, as far as I have read.

I have only been on this forum a week or two, but it seems like there isn't a lot of action or responses here. Maybe it's just because it's the off season for riding, so people aren't thinking about bikes. I'd recommend fireblades.org as a really good site to look at and search on. There are many posts regarding the HTEV and flapper airbox mod there. Here's just one post:

And the 02 sensor only came on the Cali spec bike, if I remember right. My bike doesn't have one.

Where are you located? $1500 is a great price for a 929, in my opinion, especially if you only have to change fluids and figure out the exhaust.

i'm located in virginia i got the bike from my dad's boss the tanks primer and all the plastics were off when i got it it had a crack on the tail he try'd to fix with bondo, and told me when i bought it that if i didn't hook the cables up to the exhaust to open up the valve insidethe exhaustfor the proper rpm's that it would burn my valve's up that's the only reason i'm so concerned but i don't know what to think i downloaded the manual from the site i learned alot about it but it only told me how to un hook it and at what rpms it should open at etc...but from what your saying ...it don't matter right? if so that's awsome the bike also came with paint so i did all n all get a good deal, it's GM Brazenorangepaint and all the additives for the plastics he said the paint was like 2000$ got that for free i think i'm going to order all new plastics and fairings there pretty beat up but anyway i'll post a picture of it in it's current state...uhm butreply back n let me know if it be ok to run it without it thx.
