GSXR damper to 929 home grown
Thanks for the great idea! I'll be shopping for some metal at lunch today. I'm going to borrow the HyperPro RSC off my track bike instead of buying a new damper. It's a 2 minute swap back onto the track bike for track days.
Definately gonna try and fit mine in the same location on my F3. I got one cheap yesterday from a swap meet (along with a 600rr seat) and did a search which lead me to your thread. Only thing I'm worried about is things clashing when the bars are swung through their full movement. Seems to be a bit of a problem so far on my F3. I have access to 7075-T6 and a machine shop so I'll be copying (sorry) your mount brackets. Another thing I found out while googling "GSXR1000 damper" was that people are going up in oil weight to increase it's damping ability. Some even going as far as putting 90wt diff oil in them. Most are putting either 15 or 20wt fork oil.
Yea hard to keep it close so it misses everything but not hit anything
I changed the oil in the damper to 15 weight as 20 was too stiff for me, hard to get all the air out on oil change best way is buy a heap of oil and submerge the whole thing.
It all depends on the amount of leverage as to the weight of the oil also heard of changing the valving in the damper but I'm not going there.
I've got it off at the moment while setting up the suspension.
We should go for a ride pepperman i'm on the darling downs
