Default which goes out more common?

which is more common to go out, the stator or the regulator rectifier?

I ask because I just had my battery die on me and I mannage to get to a battery shop and they tested my battery it was dead and my bike wasn't charging and since I intalled a new battery that would leave either of those 2 as the culprit.

any info on which you have run into would e a big help!

I replaced my stator a little while ago. It was completely burned out, the rectifier was fine.

I had to replace the reg. rectifier, prev. owner just replaced it with non-Honda part. It was overcharging, about 17 volts at 5k rpm's. The battery electrolite would boil out. I put in Honda regulator and its putting out around 14-15 volts. Used a Walmart battery, so far its okay.
