I just got a 929 with stock gearing (16-43). what size chain wheels did you switch to? I was thinking 15-45.

Either one of those combo's your going to be wheelieing up a storm. I personally would just do a 520 chain conversion with the stock rear size sprocket and -1 in the front. You'll have less unsprung weight due to the less rotating mass and you'll get off the line faster, get to speed faster, but won't decrease your top end to much.

I think I'm the only 929er I know of who went -1 on the back and stock front. I don't wheelie, and it fixed the speedo.

I have -1+2 & 520 chain. Love it. You can run like a mad man through the mountains. It'll pull away from my friend on an R1 in flats also. But how often do you really run 150+.

I like it and if it wears out fast, which I doubt its that much faster, I'll just buy the same thing and put it back on. My speedo seems to be off 5-7 mph (FYI). Love it.........

This worked great, rather than chasing 1-2 hp and spendin a bunch of money doing it.
I am a big guy and the bike still pulls like a monster.
