fuel pump wont work??
I just got an 01 929 that was wrecked and wasnt running when I bought it. Turn the switch on and the fuel pump doesnt run. I hook the fuel pump directly to battery and it runs, however the bike still wont start even when the fuel pump is running. Whats up with that? Anyway, my first problem is getting the fuel pump to run like normal. All my fuses are good. Is there a pump cutout relay or anything on 929's? I can only find 2 relays under the seat, but those are starter and something else. I dont know what the other one is, but Im pretty sure its not fuel pump. if there is one, where is it located? Im stumped as to what to do, but then again, that doesnt take much. Any advice??
There are 2 things i know of for sure that will cause this problem. 1 being the kill switch. I had this problem myself, the solder holding the wires in the killswitch came loose and not only killed the ignition, but the fuel pump also. Also you will want to check the tipover sensor. The tipover sensor is on the frame right by where the subframe mounts in the center bar. You can bypass that with the wires also. But first thing i would check those 2 things. Good luck and hit me up if you have any other things going on, ive been through alot of **** with my 929.
Also - and this is good advise for everybody - invest a couple of bucks and order Honda's shop manual for the bike. Money well spent.
I went to the stephygee.com/ website and downloaded a free one, and that was cool, but I used about a hundred bucks worth of my boss's toner and paper to print it!
