Does anyone make an engine rebuild kit similar to what you'd find with cars (e.g. everything in one package), or do I have to piece a kit together?

you'll have to piece it together. really, it depends on how far you're going with a rebuild.

at the minimum, you'll need a head gasket, silicone gasket maker (for stator and clutch), (indian head) engine shellac (for the upper/lower case and oil pan). then you'll need bearings all around. and you cannot forget the stretch bolts (you can't re-use the old ones).

why are you re-building? whats wrong with the motor?

 

I appreciate the info. There's nothing wrong with the engine at this time. When I bought the bike, I had a nice noise. While I was working on it, I started looking at worst case scenarios to research. The noise ended up being a noisy timing chain and valves out of tolerance.

 

ok so i have a bent valve and seems like i have to rebuild the engine. where can i find valves, pistion rings and other major comppnents?
