not to sure on the bike gears but in cars the higher the numerical gear the less your top end is and the lower the numerical gear the more top end you have , soo if you got a 410 gear your 1st couple gears will go quick and you top end will suck, but if you have a 2.73 gear your 1st couple gears might suck and your topend will be alot more , and i assume bikes are kinda the same givin they have different ratios and all, hope that helps you out
