charging system issue
Well recently had a charging issue on my 2000 929. Put a new battery in it, battery still not holding charge while running. Ok next I put a new rectifier in it. Thought I had problem solved, no not so much, battery still not charging while running. reved her up to around 5000 rpm hoping the voltage would raise up. No not so lucky. Battery slowly dischaged. Well by the process of elimination I figue it has to be the stator, hell theres nothing left to eliminate after that. Well spent some more of my hard earned money and just ordered a new stator. It really pisses me off that I even took my bike to the shop previously and they told me it was the rectifier, and charged me 75 dollars just to do the exact same test that I already did on it, while giving me the wrong info fml
shouldn't the professionals be able to tell me whats wrong with something thats seems simple for them to figure out. Oh well, well I guess my next question is how difficult is it to change the stator and what the hell is this humming sound that I hear from around my stator cover. Anyone have any insight?

RV, I don't want you to feel like nobody cares about your troubles, I just saw that you posted this 3 days ago, and probably had time to do this over the weekend or so. Sorry to hear about your troubles. It sucks that the "shop of professionals" dooped you and didn't actually help. Jr. Mechanic Trey will try to help.
I don't know how hard it is to actually do it. Honestly, it seeems like it is pretty easy so i did some searching
... I found 2 videos of how to do it. If you watch them both (i did) you can do it or at least get the basics a few specifics. Between these videos and the manuals here in the 929 section, you should be able to do it. S R Tv Epiosde Stator Replacement Honda CBR 929RR - YouTube
The first one is an actual change of the stator. It is not very in-depth but "Erv Daddie" blows through the basic steps and if you can stand the music, he can help.

The second one is just a change of the cover, but he breaks it down a little more when it talks about the cover and actual stator and specific bolts and so on, but leaves out some stuff the first video said(about disconnecting soem wires). Hope this helps and hopefully someone who has done this will poke their head in.

Thanks bro I think that this will help me outa great deal. Maybe I will do a write up on the process. Kind of odd but not a lot of info on the subject at all. I also ordered an onboard battery gauge which mounts on the bike. That's the last time this old gal catches me with my pants down lol.
The stator is pretty easy to replace. Just take your time and put the new one in exactly how the old one came out. The biggest pia is scraping the old gasket off. Put the bike on a rear stand to make it easier and be ready for a little oil to leak out.
Dont be surprised if your new r/r is fried by your bad stator. Hopefully not.

I'm sure u have it changed by now, but most definitely the stator. Mine went out last fall. Quite easy to replace. Your gonna lose ur oil, so be ready with a CLEAN pan I'd u plan to reuse the oil. I did an oil change when I did mine. Note: There is a small steel dowel pin near the top. It's easy to miss if falls out! It's approx 1" long.
