Default Front Turn Signal Issues. HELP!!!!

Ok. First and foremost I am new to this site and any help would be greatly appreciated. Second I just purchased my first bike (have ridden many others that werent my own) and it is a 2000 CBR 929RR and I am having issues with the front flush mount signals. So here goes.

I installed aftermarket 3 wire flush mount turn signals with wire colors, red, black and black with a white stripe. Mind you these are not LED's and are a dual filament bulb. Now Honda stock wire colors are orange, orange with white stripe and green on the left and blue, blue with white strip and green on right. Now, I hooked up the solid black wire coming from the aftermarket lights to the green as the ground, the red to the solid orange for the turn signal and the black with white stripe to the orange with white stripe for the running lamp. I have running lamps and turn signals, however the guage lights up solid orange where the arrow is for the turn signals and my rear turn signal lites up solid like the front one does. Now when I disconnect the orange with the white stripe, I do not have running lamps, the guage light goes out and the rear turn signal goes out but I still have turn signals. Now it does not matter which color (red or black with white stripe) I hook up to the solid orange, I still have turn signals. It is only when I hook up the running lamp wire do I have the issue with the guage lighting up and the rear turn signal lighting up. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

You have a short between the bulb and switch. If u have a multimeter, that would help. Email me at jet_vet2003@yahoo.com and we will get it straight. If I can troubleshoot aircraft electrical systems, I can do this. Lol

Ok, before trouble shooting:

1. Why would you consider installing after market signal (filament) use as running lights + signal. You do know that filament bulb gets VERY hot when use as running light. Chance of melting you fairings when prolong rides.

2. It may be compatibilty issue with the aftermarket signal & your OEM flasher relay. So now, you hook up every accordingly, when you turn on ignition key, you indicator lights up right?

I would suggest, if you want running light/ go LED ($15), it's cooler, won't heat up and melt fairing. Then install using 3 wire to 2 wire diodes set up($3)....and install a led ready flasher relay ($12)

@ jet_vet2003 I figured out my issue last night after doing more research on the manufacturer of the flush mounts. Lockhart Phillips is the one who made them and the 3wires that come from the light are red, black, black with white stripe. I had the solid black to the green which was wrong because the black with white stripe is the ground wire. One I got that straight everything works perfect. No indicators lighting up and the rear turns don't light up as running lamps.

@estate4life. Since I just acquired this bike, the guy who owned had a box of parts and he's the one who started to do this. Bike is a recovered theft and will be getting an R-title in the state of PA. I do plan on switching over to LED because of that chance of melting my fairings. However, being a broke college student and needing to get this thing to pass the PA inspection I just used what was there.

The bike is a work in progress. It didn't even have the middle and lower fairing on both sides. So I got them OEM recycled and needs some clean up and paint. That's my next step after inspection, oh and of course the LED. Thanks for responding to my post and I'm sure I'll be posting more in the future.

just disconnect the running light wire after inspection. run with signals only in the front. hook them back up for next inspection...
