I have never had this problem on my 929, but it sounds just like the problem that i had with my 600.. The rectifier had burned up.. it was a cheap fix (all things considered) something like 100 bucks and a pretty easy install.. Like I said.. I dont know if 929's run into these problems, but that is almost exactly what happened to me.

The voltage rectifier/regulator seems to be a weak point on this bike, I had to replace one on my 929 already. I had the same symptoms as you describe, but there is some trouble shooting you can do to make sure that is your problem. If that is what is wrong it is an easy fix, couple of plugs and it bolts right on the sub-frame. Bummer that you already bought a new battery, those things are expensive!

I had the same symptoms with mine and I had to replace the stator. Usually if your regulator/rectifier goes out you will notice that the brightness of your lights will fluctuate greatly and you may even blow some bulbs. In my situation it would be fine for a little while but after it had gotten up to temp. It would stop charging. I would test your stator before just buying the regulator/rectifier. I bought a battery thinkin that was my problem then turned around and had to buy a staor. But hey at least I know my battery is good now.

ive had my go around with charging problems on my 929. Theres a simple way to test your stator if you have access to a multimeter. Make sure your battery is fully charged around 13 to 13.2volts, get the bike to operating temperature around 180F put the test leads across the battery pos to pos and neg to neg. Rev the bike to 5000 to 5500 rpm and hold it steady, the volt meter should read around 14.0 to 15.5 volts. Mine was putting out at about 11v it wasnt enough to keep my battery charged at all it would die just like yours. So i replaced my stator and rectifier as a set because honda doesnt have a test for the rectifier. I got the stator off ebay for about 110 and the rectifier used off ebay for around 20 shipping and all. It seemed to have fixed my problem, and just like you i bought a new battery first and at least i know its good. but good luck if theres anymore questions feel free hit me back.
