Another CBR? or Change Model?
Morning all!
I have a blue white and yellow Honda CBR 929 RRY at present.
Its given me nothing but problems ever since i got it. Thing is i absolutely love everything about it, the ride is smooth, its comfortable and duh! Its a CBR!!
Finding parts for it can sometimes be a pain and ive been told that some parts on the 929 are more expensive than your everyday CBR 900.
So ive been thinking of possibly getting rid of this one and getting another bike.. but im torn between actually getting another CBR or changing model completely...
Does anyone have any recommendations? Or do you think i should stay with this bike?
Not really willing to go down on the engine size as this ones already a joy to ride despite its problems.
i eagerly await your replies

What kind of problems have you experienced with your 929 and what mods were made on the bike when you bought it?
A friend of mine has a 2000 929 with over 22k miles and he has never had any problems. Only changes to his bike are 2bros slip-on and K&N air filter. It still has factory spark plugs and runs as good as the day he bought it over 7 years ago.
A Honda that is cared for the right way will last much longer than any other bike on the road.

My 929
Hey all
I have oil filter problems and Alternator/Rectifier problems
cover gasket kept bursting open and i recently had the oil filter replaced, not before being a victim of some cowboy mechanics charging me almost 300 pounds to fix it and it never got fixed lol..
battery is not holding a charge im im having to carry around a battery charger everywhee i go.. alternator or rectifier?
im really confused and not hugely mechanically minded
Also, not too sure of the mods made but some electrical problems too which ive just fixed.
To be completely honest i love the bike, but ive not been riding for long and i wondered wether this bike is just unlucky or if its actually proned to having alot of problems.
its also the parts are sometimes hard to find
thnk you both for speedy replies

i would keep the 929 because it kind of is a rare bike. It was only offered for 2 years and not many models were made... if you have problems mechanically, i think most of the later 900rr as well a the 954 parts are interchangeable. Body wise, the lower and the rears are the same as the 954, but the upper cowl is the 929 only...
battery, is it new or old?? older batteries hold less charge if they been in use for a while.

Hi NYKnick1015
The battery is brand new, in fact its the second one i got for it as the other one had gone completely and was un-chargeable.
I can see you point, like i said i do love this bike. I had a 97 600F before this and that was fun but not as fun as this 1.
Thanks for the bodywork info, i will definetely look into that as i have a couple of dents and scuffs due to recent vandalism. Perhaps that may have also damaged the Rectifier??
