929rr question on the stator? Advice pls
I just replaced the stator and RR and batt like a month ago! Now today I was riding and came to stoplight and I hear this buzzing or whining sound coming from stator cover or in that area but I'm pretty sure it is the stator making the sound because when I rev it up it goes away or if I keep it above 2,000 RPM sitting at idle it goes away or when I go start to accelerate and go through the gears I no longer hear it but it does go away does this mean stator going bad or or what any advice would help thank you
I mean it's sounds like it's coming from there I guess it could be the starter motor but when I wrap it up or give it acceleration about 2,000 RPMs it goes away kind of like if you were just seeing if you're a headlights would get brighter when you rev it up to see if you're statoris charging I guess but just doing that much of a rev it will go away but if I'm sitting there and idle you can definitely tell and hear it and it's coming from inside the standard cover
Hey Damon so I found the issue one of the bolts to announce the stator in the stator cover somehow threaded itself back out or started to at least and when I went to go start it this morning I heard it got off on the middle of the metal sounding so I dropped the stator took it out and that's where I see the head of the one of the mountain bolts and halfway threaded out to slap up so now I have little tiny metal shavings inside of my flywheel area where the stator cover and staters at so how do I go and does that mean now I have metal shavings inside my motor now and throughout my all my oil because as soon as I heard it I cut it off and when I took the stator cover off I noticed you know metal shavings inside of the wheel what should I do about that
That wheel is the rotor that creates the magnetic field with the stator that turns into electricity. A few dings and scratches shouldn't hurt it. You do want to get all the metal out of the engine. Replace the oil for sure, a few times. I'd get a drain plug with a magnet to catch whatever is floating around in there.
