Red face 929 not starting

I have a 2001 Honda 929 with 29000km on it. Bought it about 6 weeks ago, has been fine until last night, took it for a ride, went into the house, came back out and wouldn't start. Dash still comes on, and fuel pump starts when ignition on, but won't make a sound when trying to start it. Taken battery out, and put on charge, then put back in later, but same deal. Battery looks a bit old. DO you think it could be battery, or something else?

What checks have you done?
Fuses?
Earth continuity?

Impossible to tell without further info

I've checked the fuses, they're all fine. I've also tried jump starting it from my car, still nothing. The dash comes on every time when i turn on the ignition, with the clock flashing, but when i press the starter button to start the bike, there is nothing, but the headlights turn off and go back on again when i let go.

If the power is cutting off when you try starting it then that means you have a very low battery. If you tried slow charging it and it did not help then most likely is your battery. But also did this happen all of a sudden or did it over time? If all of a sudden then you might need a new stator or more likely a regulator rectifier and it is recommended that these things need to be replaced at the same time. If your don't mind taking chances on buying a battery and maybe ruining it, then I would try that out first, then the R/R, and then the stator. But before you do ALL of this please check ALL your wiring, I know it may be a pain but it's worth it. Would hate for you to spend all this money and found out it was just a grounded wire. Good luck
