Hi everyone. I'm new here and wanted to ask some questions about the cbr 929.
First of all I don't have a bike because I just started college and my parents aren't rich enough to spoil me with those types of goodies lol.
Though, I am looking to build a go-kart for a college project (Mechanical Engineering).. actually it's really because I've had it in my head for a while and figured I'd give the excuse that it's for college, that way I can use their tools

I found a 2000 Cbr 929 Engine locally but the guy notes that the 4th gear is gone. Mileage is unknown and he's asking 500$ (Canadian) for it. Is this an alright deal or is he nuts?

It's been for sale for over a month so I'm sure I could bring it down to 400$ easily.

Also, is there any known problems that seem to appear regularly for these engines? (ex. Stator, bearings, etc)

Price isnt bad but I wouldnt buy it for that with 4th gear gone. I have one that needs a heli coil in the head. I have the heli coil kit and the head gasket to put it back together. It has 21400Mi on it. I havent tore it down to do the heli coil kit but if your interested I would sell it but ti would be more than $500. PM me if interested. On the other hand a 929rr motor on a go kart would be scary. I meant really scary. Be safe.

 

Yeah I thought about it some more and changed my mind. I'm gonna wait and keep looking for a 600 instead.
