Newbie here. This is my first bike and I'm wondering if this is normal for this model. When at a stop in neutral, or when warming up in neutral, there is a loud clunk and the bike jumps a little when dropping it into first gear.

 

Sounds normal to me. Every bike I've had has done that. Welcome to the addiction.

Yup to the loud clunk and the jump. And if you put it into neutral and rev it it will jump as well.

As a newbie to biking and to the 929 take a few moments to go over the newbie posts in this Forum. The 929 is a lot of bike for a newbie. I don't mean to underestimate your skills or abilities but your right hand can make dramatic things happen very very quickly, even for a seasoned rider coming from another class of bike. Take care, take a rider's course or two, give yourself lots of time and space. And let us know how you go.

hmmm...my bike never jumps...NOT! yeah, a sport bike is a piece ofequipment that can travel at very fast speeds, but it's still a low tech device. in fact, on some bikes, if you're going really fast, you sometimes can't even drop it in 1st even with the clutch in.
