I have a loud gear noise coming from my tranny.
1st and secon gears are realitivly quiet but 3rd and up get progressivly louder let off the gas noise gone, put load on the gears and they are really loud. no slipping no missing gears just real noisy. It concerns me.
I am positive this isn't the chain but I could be wrong.
Is this normal? I would think that all gears would sound the same.
I did recently change to syntehtic mobil1 15w 50. and I think I am going back to 10w40 Honda this weekend to see if this is a oil viscosity issue.

I am almost ready to buy a newer bike......

 

my 6th gear was always noisy from the day I bought it, 8 years and 30,000 miles ago... no problems with it up to this day.
