01 929 Serous issues :(
Bike starts, and idles fine but when I pull it to rpm 6 or higher it just slowly dies or returns to idle I can keep it alive sometimes by rapidly pulling back on the throttle.
I just took it apart to put in a new cam chain tensioner.
I removed the tank, air box, injectors, and that piece that the injectors plug into.
Put it all back together, changed the oil (checked the level).
I had an error code for vacuum hosing (MAP sensor) but checked the hoses and forgot one. Now I get the same problem with no code.
***Now the problem is switching off, if the error code stars for the MAP sensor I can rev high just fine but it wont idle. If the code doesn't come up it will idle but cant rev.

I would start looking at your sensors. Map sensor to start with. If you can borrow one to see if it fixes the problem that would be best. Normally if sensors go out the computer throws a default voltage which is "safe" for the engine. Example: if your map sensor periodically goes out due to heat or increasing rpm (whatever the case may be) then it will go to default so that your computer will pump a larger amount of fuel so that your engine doesn't burn up. Its typical of a lot of engines. I'm not totally sure if its the same on these engines. Anyway, make sure you have no vacuum leaks. Its not voodoo, so start with the lowest cost most obvious symptoms. Best of luck and keep us updated!!
