Unknown braided pipe identification
It started and revved a little better with choke on (even though I was at operating temp) but still would die if I tried to drive it if that helps.
It would not start eventually. It was ticking over, battery is brand new, fuel was new. Had been driving lovely for 1000 miles. Carbs were cleaned before I bought it and throttle did not seem gummy.
After looking at diagrams I can't identify the braided hose underneath carb #2 from the left hand side, if it is meant to connect to something else or not?
Hose connects to petcock to provide vacuum to petcock to turn it ON to flow petrol through. Make sure hose does not have any cracks at ends to cause leaks. Both ends should have little spring-clamps to hold them on. Rubber shrinks with age and clamps may not hold them on. Best to replace with more durable silicone hose.

Not sure if this helps or not but I’ve got a vacuum take off on my fuel pump - which isnt actually connected to anything at all and I’ve no idea if it should be too! Could be where your hose goes? I don’t recall seeing a vacuum/braided hose on my carbs when I took them off last week.
