Transmission Help Needed
#21
it is still going to be a couple of weeks before I get to do it. I am deployed and don't get back until early next month. found out I have a massive Fuel leak also. this is going to be a fun time. lol. I have a Haynes manual that I got from the previous owner and from what I have read it said that this should take about 8 hrs. from start to finish. that includes taking the bike apart. how long did it take you to tear yours apart?

well I bought mine as a project bike, had 2 motors and 2 sets of plastics etc. He never finished the motor change, So i have stripped the bike down to bare frame and ran through the whole bike. I have another thread going with the build process. my rims are out for powder coating and i should be getting those back this week, I can't wait to get it all done.
If your carbs are leaking you can get those rebuilt while you tear into the motor, for around $100 i think.

I am really hoping it isn't the carbs. I am hoping a hose dry rotted. I have been following your build. maybe next time I come up to Lawrenceburg I will message you so that we can get together and do I a ride. it will be a couple of months. I have a friend that I grew up with that has a 99 also. he is wanting to ride..
