Default tail light help!

Alright, I know this may be an impossible question to answer but I need help. I pick up a 94 cbr900rr that had been wrecked, I'm in the process of rebuilding it, I have everything back together except the speedometer and tail light. I am stumped on the tail light, there is a missing connector between the light and the plug into the wiring harness under the drivers seat. The plug under the seat has five wires, I assume three for the tail lights and two for the signals. Now I have found the ground wire and two live wires but I can't get the brake lights to come on when I hit the brake. I'm lost here, any help would be great.
