Lol, that dude is not fit to be touch anyone's bike, he is incompetent and should be flipping burgers, not playing with machines that can kill people. A MAP sensor is for F.I .engines only, anyone with a basic mechanical knowledge should know that. If this guy knew what a carburetor looked like than he would not have suggested this. And your saying that he cleaned your carbs? That is scary. If I were you I would go in there and threaten BBB if he doesn't return your money. Seems to me that a lot of guys on this site take their bikes to ********. Its no ones fault, but people should realize that no one has as much invested in their ride as they do. What that means is don't expect some grease monkey to give two ****s about your bike, your safety, or your convenience. That's why it is truly best to learn how to do all this stiff yourself and invest in the necessary tools to do the job. Sure a carb sync is expensive, but if your dedicated to the performance of your bike and re-tune your carbs each season then it will pay for itself after a year. Tuning and taking care of your bike is half the fun, its way easier and smaller than a car, and with a small investment in tools and a good workspace its quite enjoyable and rewarding. Cars are one thing, if those break down then its just a pain, but if a bike breaks down or fails cause the local bike shop hired a loser its your *** painted all over the highway. Bikes are inherently a much greater risk than anything else on the road so you really owe it to yourself to know your machine inside and out. If you are clueless on maintenance, repair, and overall function of your bike than your taking a gamble with your own safety. This is not meant to be an attack on anyone, but I would simply never trust anyone to work on my bike, not even to change and balance the tires.

As for your issue, the posts above have outlined many of the issues that could be causing your problem. When the mechanic you went to says that he cleaned the carbs, that might mean he just sprayed them down with cleaner and reassembled. To really clean a carb bank you need to pull it all apart, its full of tiny vents and cavities that you need to really get at. To do this it needs to sit in cleaner or be ultra sonic cleaned, then carefully blown out with compressed air. Thats how to do it. If you do it yourself then you will know that you were thorough and the whole troubleshooting process will be much simpler and quicker because you can actually scratch things off the list knowing that they are done correctly. It sounds to me that your needle jet has a slight obstruction, but its hard to diagnose any issue just based on a description. I would strongly suggest that you make friends with a knowledgeable mechanic and sit with him through the repairs on your machine, you can learn that way. Good luck, let us know what the end result is.

He was a so called mechanic that I found on craigslist, he did post pics of so called work that he did, but in the end this guy is a ****ing scammer. I gotta go pick my bike up tonight and he said it still has that issue but not as bad and he thinks ima pay him another $60, he's out of his ****ing mind. He will soon see that KARMA is a BITCH!!!!! I my self work on my own cars so when he told me my bike had a ecu, granted I some what believed him cause the bike does have a cpl sensors, but when he said it had a MAP sensor, I knew he was ful of ****!!! Manifold Absolute Pressure= MAP. Its a sensor found on a fuel injected vehicles. Sorry for venting fellows im just pissed off that im out of $400 that I paid him for parts and labor and my bike still has that issue. Im taking it to West Coast powersports first thing in the morning, they also told me the carbs are more than likely out of syn but I will keep u guys updated as soon as they call me back with the problem.

just went and picked the bike from mr. jackass and he tried to tell me I owed him $60 more for trying to evaluate the problem a lil more. I told him I wasnt paying him another penny, so he kept my service manual that I let him use to try and evaluate the problem and said I wasnt getting it bak then he went back in his house. So I went to the store rt by his house and called the police and told them I wanted my book back and they said they couldnt go over there that it was a civil matter. No biggie they go for like $40 brand new on ebay, maybe he can learn somethin from that manual. Just goes to show u if u dont know the person dealing with ur bike, save the time, money, and hassle and take it to a repuatable shop or u could get screwed over like myself. I definately learned my lesson

Holy sweet s#!t.

My head hurts already.

I'd post up in the same section as he did on CL about this because all of this is bullshiz.

You brought the bike to him with a problem you wanted fixed, he did not fix the problem and he still took your money as well as your service manual.

Sounds like you were at is house or something. You could have fun with this.

You shouldn't **** where you sleep, ya know?
