Starting Issue
I just did an engine swap on my 1999 CBR 919RR. I dropped a 1996 919cc engine into my 1999 body. Anyway, I got everything hooked up and tried to fire up the engine. The battery is fully charged. The starter cranks the engine, but there is no fire up. I kept trying and trying. Any suggestions?

Some people recommend Sea Foam, I've never used it, but I hear it works good. Sounds like you know how to turn a wrench. Try looking thru old posts, there was recently a post about the Sea Foam, if you want to go that route. If not, clean the carbs, and then sync it. Mine was running rough, and then I sync'd them, and it made a HUGE difference. Between the min and the max, I was off about 8 inches.

RE: Starting Issue
Depends on what you call pricey. I do my all of my own work. I paid $120 for the tool, and had it shipped from England. I'd rather pay that much for something I can use again, rather than everytime my carbs act up, and I pull them to clean them, and then have to pay someone to re-sync. Yes, it was an expensive intial hit, but in the long run it'll be cheaper. Just follow the easy to read directions, and it's amazing how much of a differance it makes. Also, did the same to an F3, and it couldn't idle below 1,000 RPM. Got it down to 600RPM and it shakes ALOT less.

RE: Starting Issue
I bought the Morgan Carbtune. I thought that it would be easier to read than dial gauges. They have great customer service. I'm not excatly delicate, so I thought that I'd stay away from the mercury tubes. There's also a way to make your own. You get a some yardsticks, clear tubing (don't remember the size) and a bucket with water in it. Hook then up to your carbs and then sync up. Since you are just making the vaccum as close to possible to each other, it doesn't matter that it's not mercury. Very cheap way to go, if you can't afford to get the Tool. I've never done it this way, so I can't say how well it works. Do some searching and I'm sure you can find out more info about it.
Hope it starts running better. BTW, your slow jet's might be clogged, since it won't idle. Before investing in a tool, check them first.
