Default Starting issue...

Ok so my bike wont start. After getting the carbs cleaned and the plugs changed, I realized there was no spark. I am about to start checking the wiring with a voltmeter, but I was wondering if it makes a difference to replace the R/R with a Yamaha R6 one? I've seen a few people on here with that as an added mod, just don't know how much that will help.

it's not going to "help" anymore than the stock or aftermarket ones... however the r6 ones are easy to come by and aren't notorious for failing like the honda ones.

ok so I was able to get a spark to the plugs, so I took the fuel pump cover off and realized that the connections were charred.. is there a way to gravity feed fuel to the carbs to try and troubleshoot past the fuel pump?

you can bypass the fuel filter and pump yes. it will run yes, but not all that well past idle in neutral.

Your pump will pump like a heart beat every few seconds even when you are starting it... if it doesn't pulse, then it's a no go. bad wiring, bad contacts or something in the pump.
