Default starting issue

Hello everyone. I just registered on this forum in the hopes that you guys might help me out with a little issue I have with my bike. It's a 1999 model.
The problem I'm having with the bike is when I want to start it there is no way of doing that WITHOUT having the front brakes pulled. I'm stumped. It will not crank at all without the brakes.
The electrical harness has been patched up, so I dont think that the issue is there.
If anyone can shed some light or point me in the right direction I would be very gratefull.

Sounds like the starter circuit is running through the front brake light switch. It should be easy enough to locate the place where it's been tapped in.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try to fix it tomorrow.
